Other than the Reebok CrossFit Games, the FRCF Event Series is the longest running CrossFit competition series in the world. The inaugural Colorado Open took place June 7-8th, 2008 and had 36 athletes compete in three events over two days. Over the next several years, 10 of those original 36 athletes would go on to compete in California at the Reebok CrossFit Games.
From those humble beginnings, the FRCF Event Series has grown to include 7 different events, with more than 650 annual competitors, watched by more than 2,500 spectators.
Every year the FRCF Event Series has grown and 2012 will be no different. We have figured out a way to increase the number of athlete spots in the Colorado Open and the Master’s Championships from 180 athletes to 210+ athletes. We increased the number of athlete spots for the Training Camps to 36 athletes. We have added a Pro Division to the Colorado Open that will allow us to program an event that will test the fitness of any human on the planet.
And we have added this website.
The FRCF Event Series website will be where all of the pertinent information will be posted. The buttons on your left will take you to each one of the different Events. The information prior to, as well as the results as they happen, will be posted on each Event's page.
On each Event Page we have listed the Event dates, the date and time that registration will open for that Event, and the basic exercise requirements for each Event. If you choose, those exercise weight requirements can act as your training template for the entire year. Because we have posted them in January, you can easily spot any gaps in your fitness and work for the next 8 months to fill those holes.
We have many changes to the FRCF Event Series that are planned for 2012. One thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to hold Events that are highly organized, challenging but inclusively programmed, judged fairly, and run professionally.
That will never change.
2012 is going to be a great year.
