I saw this quote on the main site and found it echoed my own sentiments regarding my participation in the Colorado Open this year.
"You don't have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things - to compete. You can be just an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated to reach challenging goals." - Sir Edmund Hillary
I'm an ordinary chap. I'm not the strongest, fastest, fittest, or most dedicated in the gym. In fact, most of the time I'm the slowest, finishing up a WOD on my own after everyone else is done. Despite this, I stepped up my training and competed in the Colorado Open this year- and it was FUN! Sure, I felt some intimidation competing with top athletes, but in the end, just like any WOD, I found I was really just competing against myself and the clock.
The sense of personal accomplishment was astonishing and something I haven't felt in a long time. Plus, I really enjoyed participating in the larger CrossFit community. The huge crowd and the support of fellow CrossFitters pushed me to perform harder than I ever had. It was like what we do everyday, just taken to another level. I'm writing to you to say, thanks. It was so cool to have the opportunity to compete in something like this.
CrossFit has given me a new lease on life and energy to do my best and get after it. I'm feeling great and can't wait to take on the next challenge. I want to urge anyone and everyone at the gym to participate in the next Open. If I can do it, anyone can!
Skip and Jodi, thanks for all the pain. I'm a better person for it. Looking forward to what's next.

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for hosting an amazing event this past weekend. It was a really rewarding experience for us to be a part of as a gym. As always you guys knocked it out of the park with the level of professionalism and organization.
Hope you and Jodi are well otherwise and we'll see you at your masters event in a couple months.

I am not going to say anything new from what others are saying, but I still want to get my thanks out.
Your judges and staff are top notch and you guys set the standard on how to run a CrossFit competition. Again on the judges, each were a personal cheerleader and coach during each WOD - strict, but fair and encouraging.
As for the programming - tough and challenging. I like that standard for the Open. It makes me work harder to improve.
Really worked the the quads this weekend. I've got the tin man walk going today on par with the day-after marathon soreness. And I love it.
Much appreciated and I can't wait to do it all over again in 6-7 weeks in the Masters Meet.
Thanks,
Chad Schroeder

I just wanted to say thank you for putting on such a fun event. Great atmosphere, great WODs, great judging, and amazing execution on the part of FRCF! It's always nice to know that when your heat is scheduled to start at 11:15, it WILL start at 11:15! We brought 5 people to the event and for 3 of them it was their first competition.
We were all humbled in some way by your WODs. My quads hate you right now. Look out for Michael Immell at the masters competition! He tasted blood this weekend and I think we may have created a monster!
Thanks again. We really appreciate what a professional job you and your crew did with the event. We will definitely be back next year!
Only one suggestion, charge people for ice baths! You'd make a fortune!
Best regards,
Justin Ritter

I wanted to write you both to thank you from the bottom of my heart for holding the Colorado Open. The two of you are so incredibly dedicated to CrossFit and the CrossFit community and it truly shows not only in how well kept your facility is, but how you treat every single person in the room like they are one of your own athletes.
I talked to Jodi once on Sunday and could see it in her eyes how much she cared for everyone participating and really loved what she was doing, it was inspiring. To run an event so smoothly and so calmly is an amazing accomplishment and you two do it year after year.
You both make me so thankful I've found the CrossFit community and am able to meet such incredible athletes and truly kind people. I cannot wait to compete again and that is in part because of you two.
Hope to see you both again soon!

I just wanted to write a personal note of thanks to you and Jodi for hosting the Colorado Open. The event was so amazing to participate in, I know it took a lot of work to put together. It is such a privilege to be able to compete with such an array of athletes at a high level. It takes a lot for the normal CrossFitter to step out in front of a crowd and do a WOD, and the Colorado Open was such a great platform for EVERYONE to step out and do great things.
I was so proud to look around at all the CrossFit athletes of all shapes and sizes coming out to give it all they have, and not just the athletes who have the ability to compete at the highest level. Thank you for providing this opportunity for all of us.
